Purpose of Association
The Association is organized for civic and informational purposes, specifically to:
- Inform residents of Downers Grove,
Illinois about local issues affecting the quality oflife in the village.
- Promote involvement of Downers Grove residents in local civic affairs.
- Advocate policies favoring the quality of life for
Downers Grove residents; particularly but not limited to matters
involving land use, planning, development and redevelopment, zoning,
conservation, historic preservation, sound fiscal management, and other
aesthetic and cultural values.
Mission
Our mission is to provide a platform where
residents can obtain information about and
express their views on issues in Downers Grove to the
village council and its various boards and committees.
Vision
Our vision is that Downers Grove will continue to develop in a
responsible manner that is congruent with the existing community and our
heritage - maintaining the ambiance of a small
village in a large metropolitan area.
Values - We value the following
- Our current sense of community.
- Fiscal responsibility in village government.
- The historical context and heritage of Downers Grove.
- A viable business community.
- Our parks and forest preserves.
- The diversity of our neighborhoods.
- A community that is safe and affordable to live in for new
and long-time residents.

in memory The WATCH regrets the passing of
Director Ralph E. Gray (4/28/1923 - 6/7/2009)
Ralph passed after a short stay in a Genoa City, Wisconsin hospice care facility.
An Air Force Colonel in World War II,
he was very active as a Republican Precinct Committeeman,
as a member of the Masonic Order, and in the American Legion.
He is the author of the book Into the Wild Blue Yonder
which was an account of his War years. |
